There’s a new development in town! Ground has broken for a new $7 million cancer center in Gadsden. Keep reading for all the details we know about this new center.
About the new cancer center
With a groundbreaking ceremony that took place in the first week of May, the Alabama Cancer Care Network has started working on a new $7 million cancer center in Gadsden.
This new center is being built on a plot of land that was formerly owned by the city along South First Street. The facility will be 10,000 square feet and overlook the Coosa River.
Plans for this $7 million cancer center in Gadsden include providing medical oncology, radiation oncology and PET scan diagnostic equipment all in one location.
This project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. In addition, this new center would create as many as 20 new jobs.
“We’ve got a plan for continued growth on this side of the river with more development opportunities and green space, both of which will complement our expanded healthcare services,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford, who also mentioned this was the first groundbreaking of many more to come.
