It’s almost time to go treasure hunting in North Alabama once again! Make your plans for the US 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale the weekend after Mother’s Day, May 18th-21st.
About the US 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale
Forget the GPS. You may need a good old-fashioned map to help you navigate the more than 500 miles along the US 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale route. This big event stretches across five states, including Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.
Explorers are likely to find 100 vendors or more set up in courthouse squares, antique storefronts, green spaces and more. The annual yard sale started in 1997, and the four-day event has been going strong ever since.
Hours may vary, but in general, things typically begin at sunrise. You know what they say, “The early bird gets the worm,” or in this case, the best finds!
What to expect
While you may never know what to expect in the end, visitors will usually encounter a wide range of goods. There tends to be handcrafted furniture, art, vintage items, collectibles, memorabilia and much more.
Of course, you can’t go on a treasure hunt without working up an appetite. So, travelers can expect tons of good Southern food too. Think fried chicken, barbecue, boiled peanuts and homemade sweets, for example. Wash it all down with a big glass of sweet tea or a cold craft beer.
Location
Technically, the US 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale runs from Meridian, Miss., to Bristol, Va. But for our neck of the woods, the yard sale runs through nearby Attalla, Reece City and Kenner.
You can keep up with the local announcements on the US 11 Antique Alley Yard Sale Attalla, Reece City and Kenner Alabama Facebook page.
