A Little Back Forty History
Bringing the brew to Alabama was not an easy row to hoe, but Back Forty Founder Jason Wilson knew it’d be worth the hard work. He started the process in 2009. To build capital while lobbying for new industry laws, Wilson started brewing his first beer at a nearby Mississippi brewery.
Naked Pig Pale Ale hit the North-Central Alabama market in June 2009. It’s described as a delightful, crisp introduction into the world of craft beer. Light enough for newcomers but layered enough for connoisseurs!
In March 2010, the second brew, Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale, was released. Later that year it won a Silver Medal at the Great American Beer Festival, and business poured in from there! Back Forty Beer Company opened in Gadsden in January 2012.
