Youth sports have become a big part of life in Etowah County. The Etowah County Mega Sports Complex Authority certainly thinks so. Founded in 2015, this organization has sought to secure a modern sports complex for our county. We’ll likely have it as a new neighbor by the fall, if not a little sooner!
About the Authority
With roots in 2015, the Etowah County Mega Sports Complex Authority has devoted its time toward erecting a state-of-the-art sports complex for Etowah County residents to enjoy.
Two years into the journey, in October 2017, the Authority claimed 139 acres off Steele Station Road for the project. With the debt-free purchase completed, the Authority enacted its multi-phase plan to construct the Etowah County Mega Sports Complex. The complex would serve as a source of revenue, site of tournament hosting, and a home base to Etowah County championship sports teams.
About the Complex
The Etowah County Mega Sports Complex is being constructed in a couple phases. The first phase will see the development of parking, restrooms, concessions, and one of the centerpieces: soccer fields. Baseball and softball fields, along with a host of convenient additions, will join the soccer fields in a later phase.
As of now, estimates peg job completion as sometime this fall. The groundwork for the Etowah County Mega Sports Complex was slated to finish this July, but a particularly frequent rainy season stalled development. Milam and Company Construction, the company who won the project’s bid, has been working to keep pace with deadlines.
